Maintaining the Integrity of the Wyeth Liquid SamplesPresenter Husam Fayez, Wyeth Research, USA
Additional Authors: Jeff Pasaly, John MorinStability of compound libraries in the pharmaceutical industry has been a hot topic for debate for many years. One of the main hypotheses for lack of stability is precipitation and degradation of the samples after multiple freeze/thaw cycles in the presence of moisture. This presentation will discuss the measures that the Wyeth Liquid Sample Management Group takes to maintain an inert, dry environment for the samples. These measures include storing multi-use samples in a sealed, automated storage and retrieval system, at –20°, in the dark, and under Nitrogen. The retrieval process will be presented explaining how a “plug” of Argon is added to the 2D-barcoded microtubes to prevent exposure of the samples to ambient conditions during processing. The results of these measures, including evaluations of sample purity and integrity will be presented.
